Going through the teenage stage can be difficult for the young person and the parent alike. Sometimes parents feel that their teenager has changed and they no longer know how to relate to them. Likewise the teenager may feel that their parent knows nothing of what they are going through at school, with friends and their relationships. Parents may be concerned at what boundaries to set regarding socialising, technology and relationships. The young person may feel that their parents don’t give them enough freedom and don’t trust them. Working with the young person and/or their parents can help both understand each other and decreases conflict in the family.
There may be concerns regarding the young person showing signs of depression, anxiety, eating disorders or refusing to attend school. I have worked successfully with a lot of teenagers and their families to overcome such issues and have helped young people feel better and more able to cope with family, school and friends.
